MONTREAL FOR 24 HOURS
.. So, it's 5:30 in the morning and I've been up for an hour already... sometimes the body wants what the body wants. It sounds terribly cliche, but I'm watching the sky get lighter through the blinds over the window, just thinking and reflecting and writing and getting in some introverted time before the day starts. Cleo, of course, is stretched out on the floor switching back and forth between watching me curiously and giving herself a noisy bath. That's life here this morning ;)We were in Montreal for just about exactly 24 hours last month for work, which was short yes, but looking back I think it made me appreciate it more because it was like a flood of the senses and sometimes you just need that to jolt something inside of you. Going anywhere in Quebec and I can almost pretend I've gone away to Europe, minus the 7+ hour flight. This trip was all about the most amazing lunch at Olive & Gourmando (my fave), cream cheese and avocado Montreal bagels, Americanos, being freezing (I actually apologized to some Aussies after we took some photos for them.. ), loud alarms at the corner Starbucks, hanging out with our new friends Allison & James over Mexican food and mariachi singers, heated subways, not even pretending to speak french (I know... I know.), being run over by intense scavenger hunt students in the main square, train trips, and hand holding with that guy I love. Not too much time in there to squeeze in personal photo taking, but my camera is sometimes like an extra appendage, an extension of my right hand that's hard to shake free. I've said it before, but traveling to a new place wakes something up inside me and inspires me to no end, so it's a privilege when we get asked to travel to do what we love. I think I experience life a bit more intensely when viewed through a camera lens... Here's a bit of what we saw in between it all. xo, jennMontreal, Canada /// April 2012
