maili & markus’ summer camp wedding in muskoka
maili and markus were married at the place where they first met and continue to work — a summer camp tucked away down a long dirt road in the woods. the kind of place that i’m not sure we could find it again if we tried, which only added to its charm. we followed the white string tied to the trees until it appear out of the drizzle. some of their past campers were there too, helping shuttle guests around on golf carts and serving drinks during cocktail hour, which was extra special.
i’m sure that when they were planning their summer camp wedding for the first weekend in september, they weren’t exactly expecting the dark and stormy skies and six degree weather we got up near huntsville in muskoka that day, haha… but everyone rolled with it like champs. the outdoor ceremony was scrapped for vows under an open air a-frame, and everyone shared umbrellas as they made their way to the ceremony — shoes were swapped for boots, coats and blankets were donned overtop of suits and dresses, everyone wearing big smiles. then, after the ceremony, guests made their way to the tent for drinks, dinner, and huddling around the space heater. the dark skies lit up the forest, the damp misting onto the low hanging boughs of the pine trees — add that to being in a place that means to much to them and their families, and the whole day felt, for lack of a better word, a little bit magical.
so glad we could be part of this day!
