the discovery / faroe islands travel photos

the hunch is what gets you out the door, but the discovery is wilder than you can imagine / lulu miller

we go on shoots.... we meet people.... photograph weddings.... go on wild trips like when we went to the remote faroe islands last year (image above).... & every time we go in with this idea of what it will be like. that's not bad -- it's what gets us excited & out the door. but when we overthink it, you could say we go in with certain expectations, things we think will happen, things we might feel disappointed by if they don't go the way we thought. & maybe then we put on blinkers and forget to look around and notice.

the faroe islands challenged us on that. like, super challenged us on that.

we went expecting one thing and got another, more than we could have imagined.

the world is so much bigger, diverse & surprising than my silly little brain can imagine. i need to remember that more often.... i need to look around & really take it in.
