doing what only you can do

JEN_0768webJEN_0769webif i only pretend to be you, & you only pretend to be me,how in the world will any of us knowwho we should truly be / dallas claytonlet's stop staring at what others are doing, deeming it as better/more popular/more creative/'the right way'. do you know the feelings i'm talking about? let's stop trying to look to others to tell us how to be, comparing ourselves & highlighting what we don't have, ignoring or downplaying the wonderful things that we do have. we see this in the photography world all the time. i'm sure it is out there in all other areas of life too. & yes, of course we catch it happening to ourselves, after falling down the facebook hole, clicking link after link, feeling less & less ok with the imperfect but completely unique selves that we are. i'm sure it lurks in planning a 'perfect' wedding, or decorating the most 'on style' house, or being 'fit' enough. sure, it's easier to simply regurgitate what's out there already, to placate ourselves with likes or follows or other surface level ego strokes, but long term, there's no winning the comparison game. i think we're made for more than that.show us the world through your eyes! create what only you can. dance to the beat of your own drum. we think it's about what each one of us can bring to the table & you're the only one with your exact view on the world.you are you & i am me. & i think we are both pretty great.ps : if we're at your wedding, dave will definitely be dancing.
