joan + tony / the grandparents project

007_grandparents-project-jenn-dave-starkin april of this year, we visited joan & tony.joan & tony had the house next door to dave's family when he was little. and even since moving away from the neighbourhood, dave's parents have kept in touch. dave has always talked about them as if they were in a way his own 'adopted' grandparents. i can still remember the first time i met joan & tony when we stayed at their cottage one summer when we were in university. we talked about maybe having the chance to visit them there again this summer. they are just lovely.we received some awful news this week that tony is no longer with us. it's so hard to even type those words, & harder to believe it.we took a few pictures during our visit in april. a very few actually, at the time we had wished we'd taken more. but instead we drank tea & ate shortbread, talked & listened to their stories. tony took us on a tour of the house & showed us old photographs. we promised ourselves we would make more images on our next visit. it was actually right around this time & spurred by our visit that we decided to start our grandparents project. but sometimes there is no next visit & it just makes you so grateful for what you do have.these days are short & precious. you are so missed, tony.001_grandparents-project-jenn-dave-stark002_grandparents-project-jenn-dave-stark003_grandparents-project-jenn-dave-stark004_grandparents-project-jenn-dave-stark005_grandparents-project-jenn-dave-stark006_grandparents-project-jenn-dave-stark007_grandparents-project-jenn-dave-stark008_grandparents-project-jenn-dave-starkread more about the grandparents project : HERE & please be in touch if you'd like to nominate someone for us to document.
