scarlet at home

the only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones who never yawn or say a commonplace thing, but burn, burn, burn like fabulous yellow roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars / jack kerouac

a couple months ago our dear friend scarlet asked me & dave if we could come over and take some pictures around her space. ever since i first met scarlet, this quote has always come to mind whenever i'm thinking of her. she is one of those people who burns. she has a way of re-lighting life and passion into people. she feels things deeply, and through that the things that she creates are full of meaning and depth. our conversations always stretch me and get me excited about whatever i'm creating and exploring, and they give me courage that my dreams are possible. :)

i love spaces. i love when you step inside a home and it's like peeling back another layer of that person. when the walls tell you stories of past adventures and the things that mean something to them. scarlet had recently had her place re-done and walking in there was like a little oasis in the midst of the city, a soft pillow to fall into, a place to inspire creativity and remind you what matters. i wanted to move in! scarlet doesn't go far without lucy at her side -- isn't she the sweetest little pup?scarlet's office reminded me so much of our own! pictures and postcards, handwritten notes and memories stuck all over the walls. nostalgia is something we share, and i think one of the bonds that ties us together in what we believe about taking photographs for people.
