sophie + brandon’s collingwood wedding at the devil’s glen

candid relaxed wedding photos in toronto and collingwood

sophie and brandon’s wedding in the blue mountains early last fall checked all the boxes from start to finish. i felt a particular kinship with brandon, who had dedicated seeds, space, time and care to growing almost all the flowers used on the day — some, like the echinacea and black eyed susan are a multi-year project, usually only flowering in their second year of growth, so it was extra special to photograph their day surrounded by not only their friends and family, but their blooms as well (not forgetting the cat — beans made a guest cameo too!).

alongside all of that was how welcoming and appreciative and kind everyone was, not only towards us but each other. when i look back on the photos, it looks like such a larger group than what i remembered it being, and i think that’s due to how close and welcoming it felt to be there. days like that are what make it easy for dave and i to do our best work documenting things as they unfold.

erica & geoff’s karaoke bar wedding in toronto

Documentary Wedding Photos taken around Toronto’s East end and Dine and Dim Karaoke Bar

erica and geoff did a city hall wedding during the pandemic but realized they actually did want to celebrate too — nothing big or elaborate, just have an afternoon and evening with a small group of their family and friends. through a mutual friend they found me, and i am so glad i didn’t miss this. i’ve seen a lot over my past decade plus as a wedding photographer, but i am far from having seen it all, and this day was so out of the ordinary in the best way. they had a ceremony in the neighbourhood where they had lived for years in toronto, then we all walked over to a nearby park and patio until the karaoke bar (dine and dim) opened on gerrard st east. as a documentary photographer, i feel like i thrive in this kind of expansiveness of time and space, and it was clear from everyone’s faces that there was nowhere else anyone would’ve rather been. truly lovely to have documented this day.

erica + geoff — this was one of my favourites.
